Pilot Project for Environmentally Friendly Algal Biomass Production for Fish Nutrition: The project aims to recycle wastewater from recirculating aquaculture systems, implement an innovative technology for obtaining algal biomass at cost-effective rates, and determine the effect of the obtained biomass on the fish growth process. The general objective of the project is to increase the level of protection and conservation of natural biodiversity and green infrastructure, including urban areas, as well as to reduce all forms of pollution through cross-border cooperation over a period of 18 months. Staţiunea biologică „Petre Jitariu” Potoci – Neamţ

It is located on the southeast shore of the reservoir Lacul de acumulare Izvorul Muntelui – Bicaz in Neamţ county. It was originally founded in response to the environmental changes caused by the hydro-power complex in the area (the dam and the reservoir). Its mission is scientific, educational and applied: it supports field practice for students, and carries out research on aquatic ecosystems and water quality. It houses the Laboratory for Evaluation of Water Quality through Bioindicators – ACVAPUR, which uses aquatic organisms (phytoplankton, zooplankton, zoobenthos, fish) to assess the pollution level / ecological status of the reservoir water.

Supporting young researchers, doctors of science, who have established an independent research program, obtaining significant results in their own research field, for the creation or strengthening of their own research team.
Society can benefit from the program outcomes via newly trained human resources that will look for solutions for wastewater depollution, environmentally friendly materials that can be used in depollution technologies as well as project results that could be applied on an industrial scale to provide a cleaner environment.

Results were disseminated internationally to increase the visibility of the involved parties.
